Unscreened water enters the screen inlet, which is in the middle of the screen frame. The water is screened as it flows from the inside to the outside through both sides of the filter screen plate elements. The filter screen elements form a continuous filter belt which carries screening materials upward. The screening elements are cleaned by brush on the return axis.

The screening elements are perforated stainless steel plates with perforations ranging from 2 to 12 mm openings. Forked tines are fitted between every few filter elements to lift and carry large items like stones up to the screenings trough.

The cleaning mechanism of the screen is a spray system at the top axis of the screen. There is a secondary brush that is employed only if necessary, keeping wear on the brush and on the screen panel elements low in order to maximize longevity.
