Sludge Suction Arm

Scraper-free technology to remove sludge from the bottom of settling tanks

MANUFACTURER

APPLICATION

  • New wastewater treatment plants
  • Retrofit to existing circular tanks
  • Water treatmetn plants
  • Industrial process wastewater treatment plants

ADVANTAGES

  • Requires no scrapers
  • Low profile solution that allows tanks to be easily covered for odour control
  • Drastically less power consumption than travelling bridge scraper systems

Sludge is usually removed from the bottom of sedimentation tanks by scrapers and a pump. Since the area of the basin is usually quite large, scrapers are requried to move sludge to the pump intake. Scrapers are generally large pieces of equipment that are high cost and require a great deal of energy.

The Robot 90 is an alternative sludge removal technology to a scraper system. It consists of a suction nozzle on an articulated pipe arm, which extends from a vertical stand fixed in a suitable place of the sedimentation basin. The nozzle and the pipe are connected to an external pump and the sludge is sucked up from the basin’s bottom to an external container for further treatment, such as thickening or dewatering.
