Labour and Energy Saving Equipment for Effective Removal of
Scum Floating on Water Surface

Our system, which utilizes a drive source for an existing scraper, has a remarkable labour saving effect and for a fixed trough system, uses quite a different idea from the conventional discharge method that uses a rotary pipe. 

Our system is superior to conventional systems because:-

• Figures of the gradient and width of the exhaust trough can be designed and fabricated with flexibility

• The capacity/efficiency of scum removal is excellent

• The power for up and down movement of the weir float, which is attached to the front of the trough, is very small

• Existing power source for flight driving is available for our system

• All electrical equipment that is commonly used in conventional systems is unnecessary

• Connecting pipe for exhaust and civil constructed pits that are commonly used in conventional systems are unnecessary

• Grease oiling, that is commonly used in conventional systems is unnecessary

• Easy maintenance

At first, roller shoes attached to the flight contact with actuator plate to push it up. Two to four roller shoes can be attached to one round of flights.
Weir float is forcibly deeply depressed by the principal of lever around the hinge pin as a first hump of the actuator plate is raised, so that large scum is drained into the trough.
When the roller shoes reach a position between the hump of actuator plate, the weir float is more shallowly depressed than when contacting with the first hump of the actuator plate, therefore scum is being drained into the trough keeping a constant depth.
When the roller shoes reach a second hump of the actuator plate, the weir float is again largely depressed to drain large scum into the trough.
When the roller shoes leave the actuator plate, the weir float begins to collect scum floating on the water surface.
Until the next flight with roller shoes arrives, the weir float continues to collect scum floating on the water surface.
